Brand DealsBuilding a Media Kit That Actually Gets Opened
In this article
A brand manager has 40 creators to get through before lunch. Your media kit gets somewhere between eight and fifteen seconds before they decide whether to keep reading or move to the next tab. That's not unfair — it's just the reality of being evaluated at volume. The creators who consistently land deals aren't necessarily the best ones in the pile. They're the ones who made the eight-second version of their pitch impossible to misread.
What actually needs to be on it
One page. Not five. In this order:
- Who you are and what you make — one sentence, not a biography.
- Your niche — specific enough that a brand instantly knows if they're a fit.
- Audience breakdown — age range, gender split, top locations, if you have access to this data from your platform insights.
- Engagement rate, not just follower count — this is the number that actually predicts results, and most creators leave it out entirely.
- Two or three of your best-performing pieces of content — with actual numbers next to them, not just a link.
- Past brand collaborations — logos or names, if you're allowed to share them.
- Your packages and starting rates — even a range removes a full email exchange from the process.
- How to actually reach you — an email a human checks, not just a link to your bio.
What kills a media kit in the first five seconds
A wall of text with no numbers. A follower count with nothing else next to it. Screenshots from a year-old campaign. No visible way to contact you. Any one of these reads as "this creator isn't currently active in the business side of this," which is exactly the impression that gets a brand manager to close the tab and move to the next name.
Keep it current, or don't bother
A media kit with six-month-old numbers is worse than an honest, smaller current number — brands notice when analytics look stale, and it undercuts the professionalism the document was supposed to convey. Rebuild it every time you cross a meaningful growth milestone or land a new collaboration worth showing off, not once a year.
The alternative: let your track record do the talking
A static PDF is only as convincing as the brand's willingness to trust it at face value. A public, verifiable track record does more of the work for you — on EarnLeague's creator profiles, your ranked contest performance is visible directly, so a brand isn't taking your engagement numbers on faith from a screenshot. Pair both: a tight one-page media kit for direct outreach, and a live profile brands can actually check.
