EarnLeague ("we", "us", or "our") operates the EarnLeague platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services, including data obtained from third-party platforms such as YouTube and Instagram with your explicit consent.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials provided through Firebase Authentication (including Google Sign-In).

Contest and Submission Data

When you participate in contests, we collect the content you submit, associated metadata, and any information you provide in your submissions.

2. YouTube Data and YouTube API Services

EarnLeague uses YouTube API Services to let creators connect their YouTube channels and participate in contests scored on public YouTube metrics. By connecting your YouTube account on EarnLeague, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Information that EarnLeague obtains from the YouTube API Services is used in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.

Scopes we request

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly — read-only access to your YouTube account: channel snippet (title, description, profile picture), channel statistics (subscriber count, view count, video count), the list of videos and playlists you have published, and per-video public statistics (views, likes, comments).
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email and https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile — your Google email and basic profile, used to identify the connected account.

We do not request scopes that allow uploading videos, modifying your channel, reading private/unlisted content not owned by you, accessing comments authored by other users on your behalf, or anything that would let us act on your channel.

What YouTube data we access and store

YouTube channel ID, channel title, and channel thumbnail URL
Channel statistics: subscriber count, total view count, video count
For videos you submit to a contest: video ID, title, description, thumbnail, publish timestamp, and public statistics (view count, like count, comment count)
The OAuth access token and refresh token issued by Google, encrypted at rest in our backend database

How we use YouTube data

Display your YouTube channel handle, subscriber count, and channel artwork on your EarnLeague profile so brands can discover you.
Verify that videos you submit to a contest belong to your connected YouTube channel.
Periodically refresh public engagement metrics (typically every few hours) for submissions in active contests so leaderboards stay accurate.
Stop refreshing metrics and finalize the leaderboard once the contest ends.

EarnLeague does not sell YouTube data, use it for advertising, transfer it to data brokers, use it for credit assessment, or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to run the specific contests you have entered. EarnLeague does not use YouTube data to train machine-learning or AI models.

Storage, retention and security of YouTube data

YouTube access tokens and refresh tokens are stored encrypted at rest in Google Cloud Firestore inside our private GCP project. Access is restricted to EarnLeague's production service accounts. All communication with YouTube API Services occurs over HTTPS. Cached channel data and video metrics are retained while your YouTube account is connected and for up to 90 days after disconnection or contest completion (whichever is later) to preserve historical leaderboard records.

Revoking access and deleting your YouTube data

You can revoke EarnLeague's access to your YouTube data at any time:

From EarnLeague: open your Profile page and click "Disconnect" next to your YouTube account. We immediately delete the stored tokens, channel data, and cached video metrics.
From Google: visit the Google security settings page at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions and remove EarnLeague from the list of apps with access to your account.
Full account deletion: visit our account deletion page or email privacy@earnleague.com and we will delete your EarnLeague account and all associated YouTube data within 30 days.

3. Instagram Data

When you connect your Instagram account, we access your Instagram username, profile picture, follower count, media count, the media you submit to contests, and engagement metrics (likes, comments, impressions, reach, saves, plays) through the Meta/Instagram Graph API with your explicit consent. We do not post on your behalf or access your direct messages.

4. How We Use Your Information

To provide, operate, and maintain our platform
To verify contest eligibility and track submissions
To display your connected social media metrics on your profile and in contests
To communicate with you about your account, contests, and prizes
To improve our services and develop new features

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with:

Contest organizers/brands — limited profile and submission data necessary to run contests you participate in
Service providers — third-party services that help us operate our platform (e.g., hosting, analytics), bound by confidentiality agreements
Legal requirements — when required by law or to protect our rights

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Connected social-platform data (YouTube, Instagram) is refreshed periodically and old data is replaced. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 9).

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage of access tokens and secure HTTPS connections. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Our platform integrates with third-party services including YouTube (Google), Meta/Instagram, and Firebase. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review:

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Disconnect your YouTube or Instagram account at any time from your profile settings, which removes the corresponding stored tokens and cached data
Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data

10. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
